Yo hoy os cuento mi visita a Cuenca, una ciudad que tenía pendiente conocer y que me ha sorprendido, tenía buenas expectativas, pero es mucho más bonita de lo que pensaba! Así que tendré que volver con mas tiempo en otra ocasión, porque esto fue una visita express de las mías...
Good morning! How are the holidays going? Today I'm telling you about my visit to Cuenca, a place that was on my list for too long and really surprised me. I had high expectations, but the city is much more amazing than I expected! So I'll have to go back some other time, cause this was one of my express visits...
Te recomiendo llegar en coche por el Camino de San Isidro, las vistas del Júcar y la ciudad al fondo son alucinantes. Comienza la visita por la parte más alta de la ciudad y ve bajando para no cansarte demasiado. Desde el mirador del Barrio del Castillo se ve el Parador, el puente de San Pablo y la ciudad antigua.
If you go by car I'd recommend you reach through Camino de San Isidro, the view of the river and the city is really impressive. Start the visit on the highest part of the city and walk down so you don't get too tired. From the Barrio del Castillo overlook you can see the Parador, the San Pablo bridge and the old city.
Entra a la parte amurallada por el Arco del Bezudo y pasea por las tranquilas calles.
Enter the walled city at the Bezudo Arch and walk on the quiet streets.
La curiosa fachada de la Catedral deja ver el cielo a través de los arcos porque no se llegó a un acuerdo de cómo terminarla, a mí me parece preciosa tal cual está!
The unique Cathedral facade shows the sky through the arches because they didn't agree on how to finish the construction, I think it is beautiful the way it is!
Las coloridas casas dan mucha alegría a la Plaza Mayor, haz una paradita y relájate!
The colorful houses make the Plaza Mayor lively and bright, take some time there and relax!
No te pierdas las famosas Casas Colgadas, símbolo de la ciudad, en su interior se encuentra el Museo de Arte Abstracto.
Don't miss the Hanging Houses, the city main landmark, inside you will find the Abstract Art Museum.
Cruza el Puente de San Pablo, da un poco de vértigo pero ver las Casas Colgadas desde el otro lado merece la pena. También puedes visitar el Parador y tomar un café.
Cross San Pablo bridge, it's a little scary but totally worth it to see the Hanging Houses from the other side. You can also make a quick stop at the Parador and have coffee there.
Vuelve a la ciudad y recorre la Calle Alfonso VIII con sus pintorescas casas de colores.
Go back to the city and wander Alfonso VIII street with its picturesque houses.
Sube al mirador de la Torre de Mangana, la torre no tiene mucha gracia, pero las vistas a la zona nueva de la ciudad son curiosas.
Go to Torre de Mangana, the tower is not great, but the overlook to the new part of the city is nice.
LO MEJOR PARA EL ESTÓMAGO / THE BEST FOR YOUR TUMMY
Desayuno: En el Parador siempre se desayuna bien y es la excusa para conocerlo.
Breakfast: at the Parador, nice breakfast in an amazing place.
Comida: Prueba la cocina auténtica de la zona, te recomiendo el morteruelo!
Lunch: Try the local dishes, morteruelo is one of my favourites!
Merienda: Pásate por la auténtica Confitería Ruiz y prueba sus míticas rosquillas de yema.
Teatime: Drop by at Confitería Ruiz and have some yolk rosquillas.
Cena: Un poco de atascaburras es una cena ideal!
Dinner: Have some atascaburras, perfect for dinner!
LO MEJOR/THE BEST: Las coloridas calles / The colourful streets
LO PEOR/THE WORST: Las cuestas / It's on a hill, so you'll end up really tired.
