influencia, mucha paella, pescado y marisco fresco.
Assilah is a fishermen town 40km away from Tangier,
perfect for a day short trip. We went by bus (1€), it takes a lil over
half an hour and the road runs by the sea. It's a very mediterranean
village, with houses painted in blue and white, and many murals on the
facades painted by local artists, It was a Spanish territory for a
while, so the cuisine has kept the influence; paella, fish and fresh
seafood.
We had breakfast right before entering the medina, at La Symphonie II des doucers, an uncharming place, but with a nice typical moroccan breakfast for a good price.
Turism is perfectly organized inside the medina; stalls and shops selling souvenirs and hundreds of typical shoes adapted to european taste (for around 15€). Shopping here is better than in Tangier.
Now it's time to roam around and discover the arty streets, finding spots with a view to the sea and the coast line.
Many artists stay in the small village, with welcoming studios. They paint the murals on the streets every year during Assilah's festival.
Right outside the city wall there's a street filled with restaurants. We had it at Yali, huge plates of yummy fish.
At Al-Madina cafĆ© you can have a mint tea overlooking the square and the tower. Henna artist will fight (desperately with each other) to decorate your hands (0,5€)
Outside the medina there's a colonial church, and that's basically it.
LO MEJOR/THE BEST:los zapatos artesanales / handmade shoes
LO PEOR/THE WORST:un chico exhibicionista nos siguiĆ³ durante el paseo/An exhibitionist guy followed us during our walk

Good morning! One more Friday we are Share-IN-Style. This week we're all wearing stripes. Navy ones are my favorite, specially during summer, and are one of my basics whenever I travel.
Even when I'm on the beach spending the summer holidays I find time to discover a new place, Sun, sea and sand are ok, but I like to explore a lil further! Today w're going all the way up to the Castle of Cullera, a small fortress, originally muslim, with a great panoramic view of the albufera, the mountains, the JĆŗcar river mouth and the Mediterranean sea.
