Buenos días! La semana pasada estuvimos en Chicago, y no podía esperar para enseñaros esta increíble ciudad! Hoy comparto nuestro primer día, empapándonos de su arquitectura y paseando por sus calles. Una experiencia maravillosa en la que terminé con dolor de cuello de tanto mirar hacia arriba! Mi prima María tuvo la suerte de vivir aquí y me pasó una lista estupenda de cosas que hacer y comer, así que os dejo mi selección de Recomendaciones Risueñas para disfrutar de un día por Chicago!

Good morning! Last week we visited Chicago, and I couldn't wait to show you this unbelievable city!  Today I'm sharing our first day there, admiring the architecture and wandering the streets. A wonderful experience that ended up in a neck pain from looking up so much! My cousin María lived here for a while and she gave us a great list to visit and eat, so here is my selection of "Risueño Style" tips to enjoy a day in Chicago!

Buenos días! Hoy os traigo otra idea para reciclar cajas de vino y seguir amueblando rincones. Esta vez hacemos una mesita estrecha, con espacio para almacenar en sus patas y un montón de usos diferentes. A ver qué os parece!

Buenos días! Hoy nos vamos de museos, que aquí hay a patadas. El Mall está dividido en dos partes, del Washington Monument al Lincoln Memorial hay monumentos, y del Washington Monument al Capitolio hay museos, la mayoría son parte del Instituto Smithsonian. Hoy paseamos hasta la Galería Sackler para ver la exposición sobre Ikat, que puedes ver aquí.

Good morning! It´s museums time! The Mall is divided in 2 by the Washington Monument; towards Lincoln Memorial there are monuments and memorials, and towards the Capitol there are museums. Most of them belong to the Smithsonian Institution, and today we are walking to the Sacker Gallery, where we visited the Ikat exhibition I showed you here. 

Buenos días! Ahora mismo coinciden dos exposiciones sobre el Ikat en Washington, así que he aprendido mucho sobre esta técnica de teñir, que es fascinante. Empezamos el recorrido en el Museo Textil, donde explican de maravilla todo el proceso de elaboración de estos tejidos. Después nos vamos a la Galería Sackler donde, además de enseñar algunas piezas de Uzbekistán y el Valle de Fergana, han reunido túnicas del siglo XIX y diseños de Oscar de la Renta realizados en ikat de algodón, seda y lana.

Good morning! Right now there are two Ikat exhibitions in DC, so I've learn a lot about this dying technique, which is amazing. We are starting at the Textile Museum, where they explain the process to make this fabric. Then we are visiting the Sackler Gallery, where they are showing some Ikat pieces fro Uzbekistan and Fergana Valley and some ikat garments from the 19th Century as well as recent Oscar de la Renta designs made in cotton, silk and wool.

Buenos días! Sigo decorando las paredes de nuestro hogar, esta vez con una acuarela enmarcada con materiales reciclados. Yo he enmarcado una acuarela rápida, pero podéis enmarcar fotos, láminas o cualquier cosa que tengáis en mente. Para el marco he utilizado palitos de madera de los que se usan para remover el azúcar del café, también lo podéis hacer con palitos de helados o incluso ramitas para un aire rústico. Es importante que los palitos estén limpios y secos, si los laváis dejadlos secar bien y utilizad solo los que queden planos. También los podéis sumergir en té o café para que se oscurezcan un poco. Empezamos?

Good morning! Here is one more idea I have used to decorate the walls at our home, this time I've framed a watercolor with recycled materials. I painted a quick watercolor, but you can frame photos, posters or any idea you have on your mind. I have used wood sticks for the frame, the ones used to stir coffee or tea, but you can also use ice cream sticks and even twigs for a rustic vibe. Make sure the sticks are clean and dry, if you wash them dry them properly and use the flat ones. You can also put them in tea or coffee to get a darker shade. Let's start!

Buenos días! Hoy profundizamos en el Acuario Nacional, una de las mayores atracciones de Baltimore. A primeras suena a actividad para ir en familia con niños, pero la verdad es que es para todas las edades, es espectacular ver tantísimas especies de las que sabemos tan poco. Así que si estáis por la zona os lo recomiendo!

Good morning! Today we are diving in Baltimore's National Aquarium, one of the main attractions in the city. At first it might sound like a plan for families with children, but it turns out it's a cool place for all ages, it is so amazing discovering all these species we have no knowledge of. So, if you are in the neighbourhood, I really recommend it!

Buenos días! Hoy vamos a descubrir Baltimore, la ciudad mas grande de Maryland, que en el pasado fue el segundo puerto mas importante de Estados Unidos. La ciudad es una mezcla de lo mas variopinta, con edificios eclécticos, pintorescos barrios y gente encantadora. Durante nuestra visita llovió bastante y la niebla cubría la ciudad, pero espero volver algún día con sol porque seguro que es mejor todavía, y además está muy cerca de DC.

Good morning! Today we are discovering Baltimore, the biggest city in Maryland, which once was one of the most important ports of entry to the United States. The city is a cool mix of eclectic buildings, picturesque neighbourhoods and charming people. It rained a lot during our visit and the fog covered the sky, but I hope to go back on a sunny day cause I´m sure it would be even better, and it's not far from DC.
