Buenos días! Hoy llegamos a la última recreación de uno de mis looks de los últimos 10 años para celebrar el aniversario del blog. Pero no os preocupéis que seguiremos con posts para celebrar hasta final de año!

Good morning! Today we have the last recreation of one of my looks from the past 10 years to celebrate the blog 10th anniversary. But do not worry, we will keep celebrating until the end of the year!

El 2020 fue probablemente el año más extraño que hemos vivido todos, y en el blog también se reflejó el impacto del Covid19 con algunos posts especiales en los que os compartí ideas para llevar un pijama con estilo, planes para estar en casa, looks cómodos para trabajar desde casa, inspiración para combinar las mascarillas para todos los estilos e incluso un tutorial para hacer una mascarilla. 

2020 probably was the weirdest year in our lives so far, and Covid19 also had an impact on my blog, where I shared some special posts with ideas to style your pajamas, plans to stay home, comfy outfits to fork from home, inspiration to wear a mask matching your style and even a DIY to make your own mask.

En cuanto a looks, sé que la mayoría os pasasteis meses en casa y lucisteis la ropa poco. Yo solamente estuve confinada un mes, después volví al trabajo pero con ropa mucho más informal, y que iba directa a la lavadora según entraba de nuevo en casa. Practicamente todos los planes que hice durante el año fueron salir de picnic con mi chico, preparábamos una cesta con queso, embutidos, conservas, una botellita de vino y fruta, buscábamos un rincón tranquilo de Washington y plantábamos el mantel. Comida, siesta, paseo y fin. Así que, casi todos mis modelitos fueron bastante cómodos; vaqueros y converse, vestido y alpargatas... Aunque también hubo algún look un poco más glamuroso para salir a comer o cenar a alguna terraza con amigos.

About 2020 style, I know most of you spent the year at home and did not get to wear your lovely outfits. I was home just for a month, then I had to go back to work, but with a more casual style, that I threw into the washing machine the minute I entered the house. Most of my plans this year were picnics with my love, we used to prepare a basket with cheese, charcuterie, a bottle of wine and fruit, found a quiet place in DC and set our tablecloth on the grass. So my style was very comfy; jeans and Converse, dress and espadrilles... And some occasional glam outfit to have dinner outdoors with friends.

Durante estos extraños meses hubo dos prendas que incorporé a mi armario y que se han convertido en básicos imprescindibles que uso muy a menudo. En primer lugar unos vaqueros blancos de tiro alto y pierna ancha, que he combinado en todo tipo de looks: podéis verlos combinados con una camisa vaquera aquí, con una blusa y tacones aquí, en un look marinero aquí, con una chaqueta camel aquí... En segundo lugar una americana camel, la cuál ya habéis visto combinada de 5 maneras en otoño y 5 maneras en primavera, y en diferentes looks aquí.

There were two items I added to my wardrobe during those weird months and became staples I now wear often. First a pair of high rise wide leg white jeans, that I have styled in endless outfits: you can see them with a denim shirt here, with a lilac blouse and heels here, in a nautical vibe here, with a camel blazer here... Which is the second item I was talking about. You have seen me wear the camel blazer styled 5 ways in Fall, styled 5 ways in Spring and in some more outfits here.

Para el look que he decidido recrear de ese año, he elegido mi último estilismo pre-pandémico. Es un look que me trae muy buenos recuerdos, del 8 de Marzo de 2020, hacía un día primaveral precioso en Washington, salimos con un amigo a dar un paseo de domingo por un mercadillo, escuchamos jazz al aire libre, comimos unos burritos en un puesto callejero (recuerdo que nos desinfectamos bien las manos porque ya se hablaba del virus...), tomamos unos zumos naturales de otro puesto y de postre un bourbon pudding delicioso, nos pasamos al restaurante de otro amigo a tomar un café, brindamos por las mujeres, nos echamos una siesta al sol sobre el cesped del Capitolio y volvimos a casa felices. Justo antes de que el mundo se parase y nuestras vidas cambiasen para siempre.

And for today's outfit I have chosen the last outfit I wore in pre-pandemic DC. It is an outfit that brings back good memories, from March 8th 2020, a lovely Spring weather Sunday when we went out with a friend to a street market, listened to jazz music outdoors, ate burritos in a street stall (I remember using lots of hand sanitizer since the virus was already public knowledge...), we had some fresh juice from another vendor and a delicious bourbon pudding, we stopped by at another friend's restaurant to have a cup of coffee, toasted to women, lay down on the Capitol grass for a nap and went back hope happy. Just before the World stopped and our lives changed forever.

El vestido estampado es una prenda que compré en otoño de 2019, buscando un vestido estampado para poner con botas en otoño/invierno. Era un look con el que nunca me había atrevido y me apetecía probar. Igual os parece una tontería, pero yo los estampados de flores los asocio al calor y no a las botas altas... El caso es que encontré el estampado perfecto y fue todo un acierto, me he puesto este vestido en las 4 estaciones del año y siempre encuentro nuevas formas de combinarlo! The dress is something I got in Fall 2019, searching for a printed dress I could wear with boots in Fall/Winter. It was a combination I had been wanting to try. It might sound silly, but floral dresses are something I associate to warm months and not to tall boots... But I found this dress that seamed perfect for the idea, and it was a great purchase, I have worn it every season since then and keep finding new ways to style it! En el 2020, durante aquel día primaveral, combiné el vestido con unas botas altas camel, una cazadora vaquera, mi bolso saddle con bandolera de Dior, una boina beige y unos pendientes boho ideales. Es un look que me sigue encantando año y medio después, así que lo he recreado tal cual, pero cambiando la cazadora vaquera por mi nueva favorita: la americana camel!

In 2020, on that lovely day, I styled the dress with tall camel boots, a denim jacket, my saddle bag with the Dior guitar strap, a beige beret and cute boho earrings. It is a look I love, so I have styled it just like that, but swapping the denim jacket for my new favorite: the camel blazer!

Buenos días! Creo que a estas alturas todas conocéis my amor por las americanas camel, que podéis ver combinadas de diferentes formas aquí. Hace un año me hice con un par de ellas, una de lana que utilizo más en otoño, y otra de caballero que es la que me estoy poniendo en primavera. 

Good morning! I  think by now you are all aware of my love for camel blazers, which you can see styled here. I acquired a couple of them a year ago, a wool one that I wear mostly in Fall months, and an oversized one that I'm wearing tin Spring.

The first one was ready to wear after dry cleaning, but the second one needed some deeper action, so this is what I'm sharing with you today.

Limpieza / Cleanning

Lo primero que hice fue quitarle los botones y llevar la chaqueta a la tintorería para dejarla bien limpia! Suelo preferir lavar yo misma las prendas que compro vintage, pero los abrigos y las blazers es mejor llevarlos a un sistio profesional para que no pierdan la forma.

The first thing I did was removing the buttons and take the jacket to the cleaners to make it fresh! I usually wash or clean every vintage item when I first get it, but coats and jackets are better off at proffessional hands so they do not loose their structured shape.

Forro / Lining

El forro de la chaqueta estaba descosido por la manga. Para reparar un forro de chaqueta o abrigo, lo mejor es descoserlo por el bajo, darle la vuelta a todo, repararlo desde el interior y volver a cerrarlo por el bajo. Mi sorpresa fue que cuando recogí la chaqueta de la tintorería ya le habían cosido el forro. Lo hicieron bastante chapuceramente, pero como el interior de la manga no se ve, de momento se ha quedado así.

The blazer lining was ripped at the sleeve. The best way to repair a garment lining is unstitching the hem, turning it inside out, repairing it and closed the hem back. In this case the cleaners took care of it so I found it repaired when I picked it up. The stitching was not very fine, but since the inside of the sleeves are not usually seen, I am letting it be, at least for now.

Botones / Buttons

Los botones metálicos estaban algo envejecidos, así que el primer paso fue quitarlos para limpiarlos a fondo. Otra cosa que podéis hacer con los botones es cambiarlos por unos nuevos que le den un toque más moderno, o cambiarlos por unos antiguos que le quitáseis a otra prenda en su día. Son soluciones que también son muy prácticas cuando se os haya perdido alguno y no encontréis un repuesto. 

The lovely metallic buttons were tarnished, so I removed them at the beginning to clean them properly. You can also swap them for new buttons that give a modern touch or for old ones that you might have taken from a different jacket. Those are very practical tips to update a blazer, specially when you have a missing piece and can not find a replacement. 

En este caso, como la chaqueta tenía todos los botones y me gustan bastante con el las iniciales YSL, yo me decidí por restaurarlos. Para ello utilicé un limpiador de metales que podéis encontrar aquí, y un procedimiento bastante similar al que utilizé para limpiar la cremallera y los herrajes de mi bolso Alma de Louis Vuitton. Me ayudé con la punta de un alfiler para quitar bien los restos en los recovecos más pequeños.

But since this blazer had all its buttons and I really like the vintage YSL detail, I decided to fix them. I used a cleaner that you can find here, and a similar method to the one I used to clean my Louis Vuitton hardware. I also used a pin to reach the small details. 

Finalmente, cuando recogí la chaqueta de la tintorería, le volví a coser los botones. Un paso que hay que hacer muy concienzudamente para que no se nos caiga ni se pierda ninguno!

Finally, once I had the jacket back from the cleaners, I sew the buttons back. This is a step you should do very carefully and make sure they are properly fixed so they do not fall in the future.

Buenos días! Vivís en un clima lluvioso? En Washington la verdad es que llueve bastante, y cuando llueve suele caer manta de agua, así que unas botas de agua son algo imprescindible en mi armario. Ya sabéis que yo al plástico lo suelo deejar bastante de lado, pero en este caso es inevitable. Este es mi segundo par de botas Hunter, y la verdad es que estoy encantada con ellas. Las otras que tengo son azules y las podéis reecordar AQUÍ, donde os enseñé 5 formas de combinarlas con looks primaverales. Para mi segundo par de botas de agua me apetecía un color algo más alegre para animar esos días grises de tormenta, y la verdad es que estuve a punto de decidirme por unas rojas brillantes, pero al final ganaron estas amarillas que, igual que las azules, tienen un acabado mate.

Good morning! Do you  live in a rainy area? It rains pretty often in DC, and when it does, it usually pours, so a  pair of rain boots is one  of my wardrobe essentials.  You know I'm not really into plastic things, but this is one of my exceptions. This is my second pair of Hunter boots and I must say I'm quite pleased with them. The other pair is in blue and you can check them HERE, where I showed you how to style them in 5 Spring outfits. For my second pair I wanted something bright to cheer up those stormy days, and actually I almost got a pair of shinny red boots, but these yellow ones were my final choice, which are  matte, like  my blue ones.

I think the color is very autumnal, specially when combined  with brown, so I'm sharing  a video with 5 styling ideas to wear your rain boots.

1. Denim casual

Echando la vista atrás a mis looks desde la primavera hasta este otoño me he dado cuenta que tengo un buen surtido de estilismos con este tipo de camisas, así que he seleccionado algunos en este post que espero os sirva de inspiración! La clave para lucir bien una camisa oversize es jugar bien con las proporciones, buscando un equilibrio o un look extremo, así que aquí os dejo 10 estilos con camisa blanca oversize.

Looking back to the last 6 months or so, I noticed how many outfits I wore with this classic style of button down shirt, so I am selecting some of those in these post, hoping they will inspire you! The key to styling an oversized shirt is playing with proportions, trying to balance the outfit or going for an extreme look, so here are my 10 outfit ideas with an oversized white shirt.

1. La camisa oversized con leggings / Oversized shirt with leggings

Probablemente uno de mis looks favoritos desde hace años por el equilibrio entre el cuerpo voluminoso y las piernas ajustadas. Incluso antes de empezar el blog ya llevaba esta combinación que podéis recordar en un par de versiones aquí y aquí. Me parece ideal para cualquier hora del día variando ligeramente los zapatos: para looks de mañana queda fantástica con bailarinas y unas RayBan Wayfarer, para looks de noche con unos tacones de aguja. Yo en este caso he la he combinado con unos leggings fuseau, zapatos slingback bicolor y bolso con cadena.

Probably one of my favorite styles of all time thanks to the balance of the voluminous body and the slim fitted legs. I have been wearing the shirt and leggings combo even before I started blogging, you can remember some old versions of the look here and here. I think it is a great choice for any time of the day: wear it in the morning with ballet flats and RayBan Wayfarer, or at night with stilettos. This time I am wearing it with bicolor slingback shoes and flap bag.

2. La camisa oversized con vaqueros / The oversized shirt with jeans

Dos clásicos que siempre funcionan: Vaqueros y camisa blanca. Puedes jugar con los volúmenes y elegir un vaquero pitillo para llevarla suelta, centrando el volumen en tu cuerpo, o llevarla remetida con un vaquero de pierna ancha. Yo en este caso la llevo con un vaquero recto y le he hecho un pequeño frunce a la cintura para ajustarla un poco.

Two classics that always work: Jeans and white shirt. You can balance volume and wear it loose with a slim fit jean, or wear a wide leg jean and tuck it in. I am wearing it with a straight jean and knotted it in the center to adjust it a little.

3. La camisa oversized como chaqueta / The shirt worn as a jacket

Una opción ideal para el entretiempo es usar la camisa abierta a modo de chaqueta ligera, sobre una camiseta, un vestido y hasta un bañador si se levanta aire en la playa. Yo la he combinado en un look de jeans y camiseta todo en blanco con sandalias planas a juego, dando un toque de color con el bolso verde.

A perfect option for transitional weather is wearing the shirt opened as a light jacket, over a t-shirt, a dress or even a swimsuit if it gets breezy by the sea. I have matched it with a total white outfit, including flat sandals and a green mini bag for a pop of color.

4. La camisa oversized como vestido / The shirt worn as a dress

Los vestidos camiseros son otro clásico que me encanta, y si la camisa es suficientemente larga y tupida la puedes poner a modo de vestido. Me encanta cómo queda suelta y con unas sandalias finas de tacón o ajustada con un pañuelo o cinturón de cadena y unos tacones coloridos.

Shirt dresses are another classic I love and, if your shirt is long and opaque enough, you can wear it as a dress. I think it looks really sexy loose and paired with a strappy sandal or adjusting the waist with a scarf or chain belt  and some colorful pumps.

5. La camisa oversized con culottes / The oversized shirt with culottes

Para amantes del volumen. El efecto es el opuesto a llevarla con leggings, puedes combinarla con unos culotte o palazzo bien voluminosos para una silueta diferente. El truco es ceñirla bien a la cintura para no perderte entre tanta tela!

For volume lovers. Instead of wearing it with tight bottoms, you can pair it with culotte or palazzo pants and get a different silhouette. Hug it to your waist with a belt so that you do not get lost among so much fabric!

6. La camisa oversized con shorts / The oversized shirt with shorts

La forma más casual de llevar una camisa blanca es con unos shorts vaqueros, otro de esos duos básicos que siempre funcionan. Es importante que el short asome un poco para que no parezca que vamos sin pantalones, así que si la camisa es demasiado larga puedes remeter un trozo alante o remeterla toda. Remata el look casual enrollando las mangas, con un bolso cruzado y  unas playeras clásicas como las Converse. 

Go for a casual look pairing your button down shirt with denim shorts, another key item that always works. Make sure the short is visible at some point so it does not look like you forgot to wear pants. If the shirt is too long you can tuck in on side or entirely. Finish the outfit rolling the sleeves, adding a crossbody bag and wearing a pair of classic sneakers like Converse.

7. La camisa oversized con falda / The oversized shirt with a skirt

Para un look sofisticado pero con un toque dramático gracias al volumen extra. Ponla remetida con una falda que marque bien la cintura, ya sea de vuelo o lápiz. Completa el look con una coleta y subiéndo el cuello de la camisa, añade un collar, brazalete o pendientes vistosos como mis perlas, un clutch y listo!

For a sophisticated look with a dramatic touch thanks to the extra volume. Tuck it in a skirt that hug your waist, a-line, pleated or pencil. Finish the outfit with a ponytail, lifting the collar, and add a statement necklace, bracelet or earrings like mine and a clutch!

8. La camisa oversized con corset / The oversized shirt with a corset

Otra forma de ajustar la prenda un poco para que estilice, es con un corpiño o un corsé, preferiblemente en un color oscuro para que contraste, y combinándola con jeans, leggings o pantalones de traje amplios. 

Another way of adjusting the shirt to the body is using a bodice or a corset, better in a dark color to get some contrast, and style it with leans, leggings or wide tailored pants.

9. La camisa oversized con chaleco / The oversized shirt with a vest

De forma similar al corsé, un chaleco o un top de tirantes también dan ese punto diferente, ajustando algo la forma del cuerpo. Yo he elegido combinarla con este conjunto de punto, con falda lápiz y el top superpuesto, aunque también la puedo combinar a modo de chaqueta sobre el conjunto, como en el look 3. El efecto al superponer el top del conjunto es menos clásico, igual que pasa con el look del corsé, pero es una manera original de dar un aire diferente a la camisa blanca y está de plena tendencia.

Similar to a corset, a vest or a sleeveless top also give a different twist to the shirt, hugging our body shape. I have styled it with this ribbed knit set, with a pencil skirt and the top worn as a vest, but you can also wear the shirt on top as a jacket, as I did on look number 3. Wearing the top or a corset over the shirt is less classic, but it is a fresh and very trendy take on the white shirt.

Buenos días! Las que me conocéis sabéis que yo soy más de tacones que de deportivas, pero según en qué ocasiones, las deportivas son una gran opción. Hoy vengo a hablaros del último modelo que ha entrado en mi armario, las Nike Air Jordan 1 en su versión mid. Unas zapatillas clásicas que tienen su origen en 1984 y que son la obsessión de los coleccionistas de deportivas. La gran variedad de combinaciones  de  colores y ediciones especiales que se agotan en minutos y se revenden por mucho más ha llevado a este modelo a  ser el más codiciado. Yo tenía echado el ojo a varias opciones muy llamativas, pero como me encantan las deportivas clásicas en blanco, acabé eligiéndolas en este color que va con todo.

Good morrning! If you know me you know that I am more into heels than into sneakers, but depending on the ocassion, sneakers are a great choice. Today I am showing you the latest pairr in my closet; Nike Air Jorrdan 1 in their mid version. These classic shoes have their origin in 1984 and are the obsession of sneaker lovers and collectors. The wide range of color combinations and special editions that are sold out in minutes, and resold for much more, have turned this shoe into a unicorn. I had several colorful options in my mind, but since I love white classic sneakers I ended up getting them in white, which goes with everything.

Y una vez en mi arrmario llegó la pregunta: Cómo las combino? Yo siempre he usado Reebok Royal o Adidas Stan Smith o Superstar, pero las Nike Air Jordan tienen un aire diferente, así que quería explorar nuevas formas de llevarlas, saliéndome del look de vaqueros y camiseta que siempre uso para mis viajes. Tras un mes experimentando con ellas, os traigo 5 formas diferentes de combinar estas deportivas:

And once in my closset I had a new dilema: How do I style them? I have always worn Reebok Royal and Adidas Stan Smith or Superstar, but Nike Air Jordan have a cool vibe, so I wanted to experiment beyond my comfort zone, with something different from my jeans and t-shirt trip uniform. So, after a month enjoying them on my feet, here are 5 different ways to style these sneakers:

1. Con un vestido / With a dress

Para darles un toque más femenino las he combinado con un vestido violeta sencillo y bolso y cazadora vaquera en blanco. Un look de primavera o verano cómodo y fresco.

For a feminine touch I have worn them with a simple violet dress and white bag and denim jacket. A fresh and comfy Spring or Summer outfit.

2. Con pantalón de pinzas / With wide leg pleated pants

Para un look un poco más vestido pero informal me encanta combinarlas con estos pantalones de pinzas, ajustados con un pañuelo de seda a la cintura, un sweater crudo y bolso neutro.

For a dressier vibe I love wearing them with these pleated pants, cinched with a silk scarf, and neutral sweater and bag.

3. Con leggings / With leggings

Para un look un poco más deportivo las llevo con leggings, camiseta anudada y calcetines por fuera, que le dan ese toque retro. Remato el outfit con una camisa a modo de chaqueta, para equilibrar el toque casual y dar una nota de color.

For a sporty outfit I am wearing them with leggings, cropped t-shirt and socks over the leggings, for a retro vibe. I have topped it all with a shirt worn as a jacket, to balance the casual look and add a pop of color.

Dado que mis Jordans son abotinadas, hay que elegir bien los calcetines con las que las llevamos. Estos me parecen de lo más divertidos, son un diseño de Keith Haring para Calzedonia. 

Since my Jordans are no low-top, the choice of socks is an important matter. I think this Keith Haring design for Calzedonia is really cool.

4. Con culottes / With culottes

Habéis echado de menos mis culottes blancos? Pues ya están de vuelta. Para un look casual de primavera he creado este total look en blanco con unos de mis vaqueros favoritos, una camiseta con mensaje divertido, bolso en blanco y calcetines con flor de crochet. 

Did you missed my white culottes? Cause they're back. I've gone for a total white Spring look with one of my favorite jeans, a fun message t-shirt, white bag and socks with a crochet flower.

5. Con jeans y americana / With jeans and a blazer

Por último, un look que ya os enseñé aquí, con vaqueros clásicos y americana camel, volviendo a jugar con ese equilibrio de casual y formal.
