Nunca había estado en Portugal, a pesar de ser el vecino de al lado de España, y para la primera toma de contacto visité Oporto o, como dicen allí, Porto. Esta encantadora ciudad se puede recorrer en 24 horas y es estupenda para un fin de semana o un puente. Prepárate para comer mucho bacalao, beber buenos vinos y pasear entre azulejos de colores. Os dejo mis consejos para disfrutar de la ciudad, en el orden perfecto para evitar subir cuestas!
I had never been to Portugal, even when it is Spain's neighbor, so it was time to visit. And for this first visit I chose Porto. You can walk the charming city in 24 hours, or spend a long weekend if you have the time. Get ready to eat a lot of cod, drink good wines and walk among colorful tiles. Here are my tips to enjoy the city, in the perfect order to avoid walking uphill!
Desayuna en el precioso y modernista Café Majestic, no te pierdas los pastéis de nata, el dulce más típico de Portugal.
Have breakfast at the beautiful art-nouveau Café Majestic, you have to try pastéis de nata, the typical portuguese sweet.
Baja hasta la estación de Sao Bento, con el hall decorado con cerámica pintada.
Walk to Sao Bento station, with a beautiful painted tiles hall.
Sube a la Torre dos Clérigos para observar toda la ciudad desde lo más alto mientras suenan las campanas. Son unos cuantos escalones, pero merece la pena y así te orientarás mejor el resto del día.
Go all the way up to Clérigos tower, you can see the whole city from the top while the bells ring.
La encantadora librería Lello e Imrao es una buena parada, aunque está sobre explotada. Prepárate para hacer cola, pagar entrada y verte apretujado por fans de Harry Potter.
The cute Lello e Imrao bookstore is really nice, but over exploded. Visit if you don't mind queuing, paying to enter and being squeeze by Harry Potter fans.
Pasea mucho, piérdete por las calles y plazas. Las iglesias tienen las fachadas cubiertas de azulejos en blanco y azul.
Walk and wander the streets. Churches are covered with white and blue painted tiles.
Visita el Palácio da Bolsa, no te pierdas los detalles de suelos y techos, y quédate un rato en el espectacular salón árabe.
Visit Palácio da Bolsa and pay attention to floors and ceilings, you will love the Arabian room!
Pasea por la Ribeira y tómate un vinito con vistas al Duero. Puedes aprovechar y comer por aquí.
Walk by the Ribeira and have some wine by the river. You can have lunch here.
Cruza a Vila Nova de Gaia, al otro lado del Duero para visitar una de las numerosas bodegas de Oporto.
Cross to Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the Douro, to visit one of the many wineries making Oporto.
En Ferreira hacen una visita muy completa, en diferentes idiomas, explican todo el proceso e historia y te dan a probar un par de vinos.
At Ferreira they have a good tour, in different languages, and explain the whole process and history. You get to taste two different wines after the visit.
Vuelve a cruzar a Oporto, lo mejor es subir en teleférico y cruzar el puente Dom Luís, y si te da tiempo entra a la catedral, que tiene un claustro muy bonito.
Go back to Oporto, the cable car is the best idea, cross Dom Luís bridge and visit the cathedral if you have time, the cloisters are pretty nice.
No te olvides de coger el tradicional tranvía para alguno de los trayectos!
Don't forget to take the classic tram for any of the journeys!

LO MEJOR/THE BEST: Los pastéis de nata, y comer al sol con vistas al río / Pastéis de nata, and eating under the sun overlooking the river.
LO PEOR/THE WORST: Todas las calles tienen pendiente / Most of the streets go uphill

ReplyDeletePortugal es mi país favorito, aunque en esta ciudad no he estado y la tengo pendiente. Coincido en que los pasteles de Belen y el bacalao los hacen riquísimos (y eso que yo no soy de comer pescado...) y los azulejos lo hacen todo más bonito.
Lo que me ha fastidiado un poco es saber que te cobran entrada en la librería, ¡como se aprovechan!
Qué bonita ciudad, es muy pintoresca!

ReplyDeleteHi! Vilanova is just across the bridge from Porto, and it's where all the wineries are, so a visit to one, like Ferreira, is a must!
