Buenos días! Hoy os traigo 10 esenciales para pasar el verano que seguro que os vienen bien tengáis vacaciones o no, viajéis u os quedéis en casa, estéis en la playa o en la montaña.

Good morning! Today I am sharing 10 Summer essentials that I am sure you will love, either you are on vacation or not, traveling or staying home, in the mountain or the beach.

1. Botella de agua térmica / Insulated water bottle

El agua es de las cosas más esenciales en nuestra vida, es importante mantenerse hidratadas siempre, y especialmente cuando suben las temperaturas. Esta botella térmica conserva el agua fría hasta 24 horas, yo la he dejado en el coche al sol toda una mañana y cuando he ido a beberla seguía a temperatura de nevera.

Water is one of the most essential elements in our life, staying hydrated is always important, but much more when the temperatures go up. This S'well insulated bottle keeps the water cold up to 24 hours, I have left it in the car under the sun during a whole morning and when I went to drink it it was still at fridge temperature!

Truco del almendruco: No se puede meter en la nevera, pero la puedes llenar con agua de la nevera o añadirle unos hielos para que dure más! También la puedes usar con agua caliente, es ideal para llevarte un té calentito a cualquier excursión en invierno, mantiene el calor hasta 12 horas!

Pro tip: You can not put it in the fridge, but you can fill it with water from the fridge or add some ice so it stays cold for longer! You can also fill it with hot water, it is perfect to take hot tea on a winter excursion, and stays hot up to 12 hours!

2. Protector solar / Sunscreen

Tan importante como mantenernos hidratadas, es proteger nuestra piel y evitar los daños causados por el sol. La protección solar es importante todo el año, pero en los meses de sol es más que obligatoria. Si te vas a poner horas bajo el sol, embadúrnate de protección solar, pero para el día a día os recomiendo una alternativa como esta protección en barra, que puedes reaplicar en cara o brazos una vez vestida y evitando la sensación pegajosa y las manchas en la ropa. Para la cara me encanta porque no se derrite tras horas de calor ni acaba metiéndose en los ojos como pasa con los protectores solares líquidos.

Almost as important as staying hydrated, we have to protect our skin from Sun damage. Sun protection is always a must, specially during Summer months. If you are going to stay under the Sun for hours, cover yourself in lots of sunscreen, but for your daily life I recommend a stick, like this one from Neutrogena, that you can easily reapply just on your face and arms once you are dressed, avoiding the stickiness and stains on your clothes. I love this for my face cause it does not melt and get into my eyes like other creamy sunscreens.

Truco del almendruco: Utiliza encima este maquillaje de L'Oreal que contiene algo de protección y, al ser en polvo, evita los brillos en la cara.

Pro tip: Use this L'Oreal mineral makeup on top of it, which is SPF19, and being a powder reduces the oily shines on your face.

3. Gafas de sol / Sunglasses

Yo tengo los ojos bastante sensibles, así que no salgo de casa sin gafas de sol. Si hay un modelo de gafas que nunca pasará de moda son estas RayBan, qué además de ser el equilibrio perfecto entre rockeras y chic, son muy resistentes gracias a la montura de acetato. Yo las utilizo hace más de 10 años y solamente las he tenido que reponer un par de veces, por un robo y por olvidarlas en un taxi, pero nunca por rotura.

I have very sensitive eyes, so I never leave the house without my sunglasses. And this RayBan model will always be my favorite, since it is the perfect balance of rocker and chic, and also very sturdy thanks to the acetate frame. I have been wearing them since 2008 and I only had to replace them twice, once they got stollen and once I left them in a taxi, but they never got damaged.

Truco del almendruco: Compra el tamaño correcto y llévalas a cualquier óptica para que te las ajusten bien a tu cabeza y orejas.

Pro tip: Get the right size and get them adjusted to your head and ears at any glasses shop.

4. Vestidito de siesta / Nap dress

Un vestido de siesta es ese vestido fresco tan cómodo que podrías dormir la siesta con él, porque casi cruza la línea del territorio camisón. Perfecto para estar en casa relajadamente, para poner sobre el bikini y bajar a la playa o a la piscina, o combinar con unas Converse y dar un paseo por el campo.  Mi favorito de Amazon es este modelo, en todos sus colores!

A nap dress is that fresh dress that it is so comfortable you could take a nap wearing it, as it is almost crossing to nightgown territory. Perfect to stay home relaxed, wear over your bikini to the beach or pool, or match with casual Converse sneakers and go for a walk in the countryside. My Amazon favorite is this dress, in every single color!

Truco del almendruco: Mucho mejor si es de un material fresco como el algodón o el lino y si es algo elástico para un extra de comodidad.

Pro tip: Get yours in a fresh fabric, like cotton or linen and with some elasticity for extra comfort.

5. Cesta de mimbre / Straw basket

Mi cesta favorita es este modelo que descubrí en Ikea, pero también podéis encontrar este mismo modelo en Amazon. Es un capazo de paja ultralijero que utilizo muchísimo en verano tanto para ir a la playa o la piscina como para llevar a un picnic en la naturaleza. No pesa nada y es bastante flexible, así que se puede llenar sin límites!

My favorite basket is this model I found on Ikea, but you also can find it a similar one on Amazon. It is a super light seagrass basket that I use a lot in the warm months to go to the beach or the pool, and also for any picnic surrounded by nature. It weights next to nothing and it is very flexible, so I fill it without limits!

Truco del almendruco: Durante el resto del año la tengo cubriendo una de las macetas de mis plantas, y cuando la llevo de viaje la doblo por la mitad, la relleno con ropa y la meto a la maleta o en mi bolso Le Pliage! Podéis ver mi sistema para equipaje ligero aquí!

Pro tip: When I am not actively using it, I put a plant pot inside and it becomes part of my home decoration. When I travel I fold it by the half, fill it with clothes and put it in my luggage or even inside my Le Pliage bag! You can see how I pack light for a vacation here!

6. Toalla ligera / Light towel

Si hay algo que nunca falta en mi cesto de paja es una de estas toallas! Ideales para la playa porque son monisímas y secan muy rápido. Ya sabéis lo que me gustan las cosas multifunción, y estas toallas no se quedan cortas: las utilizo para la piscina y playa, la llevo en el coche para picnics o siestas improvisadas, sirve de chal o mantita para cuando me entra frío en un avión, de toalla de ducha o de mantel de mesa para una emergencia, y queda ideal anudada de falda pareo.

If there is something I always carry in my straw basket it is one of these towels! They are perfect for the beach because they are stylish and they dry quickly. You know how much I love multipurpose items, and these towels are a great example: I use them as towels at the beach or the pool, take them in the car on road trips for an improvised picnic or nap, wear them as a shawl or blanket on cold planes, use it as a shower towel or a table cloth for an emergency, and it looks great tied as a pareo skirt.

7. Chanclas / Flip flops

En verano tendemos a estar rodeados de agua y, con la adoración que yo tengo por mis zapatos, necesitamos chanclas de goma para no arruinar nuestro calzado favorito. Las chanclas no es algo que me apasione, pero son totalmente necesarias en algunas circustancias como la playa, la piscina, un barco o un balneario. De todas las chanclas que he probado a lo largo de los años me quedo sin duda con las Havaianas Slim, ligeras, resistentes, discretas y favorecedoras. En segunda posición se quedan este modelo de Ipanema, que son mucho más cómodas que las Havaianas, pero pesan bastante más, y en tercera posición estas otras, que son igual de cómodas y pesadas, se sujetan el pie de maravilla, pero a veces me han hecho rozaduras.

We are usually surrounded by water during Summer months and, since I like my shoes a lot, I need rubber footwear so I do not ruin my leather shoes. Flip flops are not something I am crazy about, but they are a must in scenarios like the sea or the pool, a river, a boat or a spa. I have used a good amount of flip flops over the years, and my favorites are the Havaianas Slim: light, durable, modest and flattering. The second position is for this Ipanema model, which are more comfortable than Havaianas, but also heavier. And in third position I place this model, which are equal heavy and comfy, the advantage is they hold really well to the foot, and the disadvantage is they cause blisters sometimes.

Truco del almendruco: Elige unas en tonos neutros y metalizados, así pegan con todo y el metalizado les da un toque más elegante.

Pro tip: choose a pair in a neutral metallic color, this way they will match every outfit and the metallic finish adds an elegant touch.

8.Loción para después del sol / After sun lotion

Igual que debemos proteger nuestra piel del sol, es importante mimarla después de una jornada expuestas a él. Podéis elegir un Aftersun tradicional como este clásico, que a mí siempre me huele a verano, paseo marítimo y vacaciones en familia, o decantaros por otro de mis productos multifunción favoritos; el aloe vera. Yo lo utilizo cada día en todo el cuerpo y cara, y de vez en cuando también me lo aplico en el cabello.

As much as we need to protect our skin from the sun, we also need to care for it after sunbathing. You can use a classic after-sun lotion like this one, with one of my favorite Summer scents, that always brings memories os the beach promenade and family vacations, or choose another one of my favorite multipurpose products: aloe vera. I use it everyday in my face and body, and sometimes I also apply it to my hair.

Truco del almendruco: asegúrate de que el ingrediente principal, y preferiblemente el único, es aloe vera. Guárdalo en la nevera para que se conserve mejor refresque la piel.  

Pro tip: Make sure the main ingredient, or the only one, is aloe vera. Keep it in the fridge so it is better preserved and cools your skin.

9. Sombrero de paja / Straw hat

Nunca estamos demasiado protegidas contra el sol. Y no me malinterpretéis, que yo adoro el sol y tumbarme cual lagartija, pero siempre con precaución! El sol en exceso nunca es bueno, y además nos envejece la piel de la cara mucho más rápido. Por eso, y para evitar insolaciones y dolores de cabeza después de horas bajo el sol, un sombrero es imprescindible. Elige uno ligero de paja como este, que deje circular el aire, de esta forma tu cabeza tendrá algo de sombra, tu cabello estará protegido y tu cara no recibirá los rayos de sol tan directamente. Además un sombrero siempre añade un toque especial a tu look, todo son ventajas!

We are never protected enough against sun damage. Do not take me wrong, I love the Sun and sunbathing like a lizard, but always with caution! Too much Sun is not a good idea, and sun abuse will make our skin look older. So, in order to avoid sunstrokes and headaches after hours under the Sun, a hat is a must! Choose a light straw hat like this one, that allows air circulation , so your head will get some shade, your hair will be protected and your face will not receive direct sun rays. And a hat always adds a special toucj to any outfit, so it's all advantages!

Truco del almendruco: elige bien tu talla o un modelo ajustable para que no se te vuele si hay algo de airecillo.

Pro tip: choose the correct size for your head or an adjustable model so it stays in place on windy days.

10. Repelente de mosquitos / Mosquito repellent

Sois de las que os pican todos los bichos que haya a un kilómetro a la redonda? Entonces sabréis qué importante es el repelente durante los meses de verano, especialmente cuando estás por la naturaleza o si sales a cenar a una terraza en la que haya un mínimo de plantas y humedad. Yo utilizo este bálsamo de ingredientes naturales que repele a los mosquitos y es ideal para pieles sensibles como la mía (similar aquí). Además viene en una lata pequeña y ligera, ideal para llevar siempre en el bolso y aplicar un par de veces al día.

Are you the biggest mosquito attraction in miles? Then you know hoy important is a mosquito repellent, specially if you are surrounded by nature or dining at any patio with some plants and humidity. I use this mosquito repellent balm, made with natural ingredients and perfect for my sensitive skin. It comes in a light small tin, perfect to carry in your bag and reapply whenever you need.

Truco del almendruco: Intenta no utilizar perfumes florales muy intensos cuando sepas que vas a estar en zonas de riesgo, y si aun así te pican, lleva siempre en el bolso un remedio calmante para el picor, como un boli de Afterbite o cortisona, si sueles tener reacciones graves.

Pro tip: Try not wearing intense floral perfumes when you know there is a risk of mosquitoes in the area. And, in case they bite you anyways, carry always a remedy to calm the itch, like this soothing balm, also made with natural ingredients, an afterbite pen, or cortison if you usually have severe reactions to bites.

Buenos días y feliz año nuevo! El invierno ha llegado y, aunque ha empezado bastante suave, sabemos que la lluvia, la nieve y el viento helado están a la vuelta de la esquina. Nuestro primer instinto suele ser apostar por prendas prácticas cuando el clima está desapacible. Esto está muy bien, y es perfecto para ocasiones puntuales, pero cuando el mal tiempo se alarga durante semanas, o incluso meses, nos aburrimos de vernos con el abrigo de plumas, las UGGs y las botas de agua.

Good morning and happy New Year! Winter is here and, even though it is not that cold yet, we know rain, snow and freezing winds are around the corner. Our first instinct is wearing practical pieces when the weather is bad. Which is fine, and perfect for some days, but if the bad weather stays for weeks, or even months, we can get tired of wearing the puffer and UGGs/rainboots combo.

Así que, si os estáis preguntando "Qué me pongo para un día de frío?" os traigo un buen consejo y una selección de looks para las temperaturas más bajas, la lluvia y la nieve. El truco para mantener el estilo y sobrevivir: Ve a lo GRANDE! Es así de sencillo, no te llenes de capas, abrigos cortos, botines y mil cosas más. Apuesta por el abrigo más grande que tengas, botas alta, siempre adecuadas a la climatología para evitar resbalones, caidas o calcetines empapados, guantes largos, una maxi bufanda y una boina o gorro.

So, if you are wondering "What do I wear on a cold Winter day?" I have a good tip and a selection of outfits for the cold, rainy and snowy days. The trick to stay stylish and survive Winter weather: Go BIG! It is that simple, don't wear short coats, booties and endless layers. Go for your biggest coat, tall boots (weather appropiate to avoid slipping or getting your socks wet) long globes, a maxi scarf and a beret or hat.

1. Abrigo de paño negro / Black wool coat

Combínalo con botas altas y una bufanda extra grande, mejor si aportan algo de color. Yo aprovecho cuando no hay lluvia ni nieve para ponerme mis botas rojas de ante.

Pair it with high boots and a maxi scarf, better if they add a pop of color. I love wearing my red suede boots when there is no chance of rain.

2. Abrigo azul marino / Navy coat

Otro color básico y oscuro, pero que se puede alegrar con accesorios en azul claro. En días de nieve lo combino con mis botas de agua azules, maxi bufanda y boina a juego. 

Another dark neutral, but you can brighten it up with sky blue accessories. I wear it with my blue Hunter boots, maxi scarf and matching beret on snowy days.

3. Abrigo de peluche crudo / Off white furry coat

Para días de muchísimo frio me encanta ponerme un abrigo calentito como este. Si nieva o llueve lo utilizo con unas botas de agua de color y una boina o gorro a juego. 

I love wearing a warm coat like this in super cold days. I pair it with colorful rain boots and matching hat during rain or snow days.  

If there is no risk of rain I wear it with shearling booties or these shearling lace-up boots.

4. Trenca de mohair mostaza / Mustard duffle coat

El mohair es uno de esos materiales estupendos para el frio porque abriga mucho pero casi no pesa, así que esta trenca color mostaza es una buena opción para dar algo más de color. A veces la combino con botas de agua amarillas, y otras con mis botas altas color mostaza. 

Mohair is one of those wonderful fibers for cold days, since it keeps you really warm but it is very light, so this mustard duffle coat is a good option to add some color. Sometimes I wear it with my yellow Hunter boots, and some other I wear them with my mustard over-the-knee boots.

To add some more color I pair it with a hat and shawl in peacock blue, and finish the outfit with long leather gloves so my hands and wrists stay warm!

5. Abrigo azul claro / Sky blue coat

Este abrigo azul tiene un color que me encanta y además es muy calentito. Tiene un cuello enorme que se puede llevar suelto o a modo de bufanda, pero también se puede quitar. Lo suelo combinar con botas y bolso negras o beige y sin bufanda.

I love the blue color of this coat,  and it is very warm. The collar is  really big and  it can be worn loose or wrapped around the neck, but it can also be removed. I usually wear it with boots and bag in beige or black, and there is no need for a scarf.

6. Abrigo de lana rosa / Pink wool coat

Ya sabéis que yo no soy muy de colores oscuros, así que un abrigo como este me alegra los días de mal tiempo. En este caso también me he abrigado con bufanda, boina y guantes en rosa, y bolso y botas en marrón, y también podéis ver un look con maxi bufanda gris.

You know I am not a big fan of dark colors, so a coat like this cheers any bad weather day for me. Here I am wearing it with scarf, beret and gloves in pink, and bag and boots in caramel brown. You can also see me wearing it with a grey maxi scarf. 

7. Trenca roja / Red duffle coat

Las que me seguís por Instagram seguro que ya habéis visto esta trenca roja más de una vez. Como el cuello no es muy abrigado, y ya tiene demasiado adorno por alante, en vez de ponerla con una bufanda, la suelo poner con un jersey grueso de cuello alto. A veces la combino con tonos marrones y a veces con negro, como en esta ocasión. Estas botas negras aunque tienen tacón son bastante seguras porque tienen taquitos antideslizantes en las suelas, perfectas para lluvia o nieve!

If you follow me on Instagram, I am sure you have seen this red coat more than once. Since it does not cover my neck and there is a lot of details on the front, instead of wearing it with a scarf I wear it with a thick turtleneck sweater. Sometimes I wear it with browns and sometimes with black. I love how it looks with these boots, that have a high heel but are safe in the rain and snow thanks to the rubber grip soles!

8. Abrigo guateado negro / Black quilted coat

Para días con más actividad en el exterior, este abrigo de plumas sencillo también es una buena opción. El guateado a rombos le da un toque elegante, y además repele el agua y es muy ligero. Como no tiene cuello, lo suelo combinar con una buena bufanda o con un chal que también me cubra el cabello.

This minimal down puffer is a great option for days with lots of activities outdoors. The diamond quilting is an elegant detail, it repells water and is very light. The lack of collar creates the perfect ocassion to wear a nice scarf or a shawl wrapped around your head and neck.

Es un abrigo que también sirve para ponerlo debajo de otro abrigo más fino, como el rosa, y así ir más calentita.

It is a coat that can also be used under another thin coat, like my pink one, to make it warmer.

 

9. Abrigo de alpaca chocolate / Chocolate alpaca coat

Un abrigo de alpaca marrón o uno tipo teddy también son muy buenas opciones para ir cómodas y abrigadas en pleno invierno. Y al mismo nivel de comodidad y calor están las botas tipo UGG, perfectas para esos días que no nos apetece salir de casa y preferiríamos hibernar bajo el edredón. Para avivar un poco el conjunto le doy un toque de color con un jersey y guantes en rosa.

An alpaca or a teddy coat are also great options to be warm and comfortable in Winter days. And UGG style boots are on the same level of comfort and warmth, peerfect for those days when you feel like staying home under the blanket. To brighten up the outfit I have added some pink gloves matching my sweater.

 

10. Plumas abrigado / Cozy puffer

Para días de frio extremo y actividades de montaña el plumas tradicional, también conocido como mi abrigo "Michelin", es la opción mas sensata. Para una caminata por la nieve lo pongo con unos botines de agua, gorro y guantes rosas y una buena mochila en vez de bolso.

For extreme cold weather and mountain activities I go for the traditional puffer, also known as my "Michelin" coat. I wore it with my rain booties for some snow trekking, completed with pink hat and gloves, and a good backpack instead of a bag.

Habéis notado alguna pieza que se repita? El bolso saco Noe de piel epi es uno de mis favoritos para estos días de mal tiempo porque este tipo de piel repele el agua y la nieve, así que no me llevo sustos. Otros bolsos que también son muy buena opción en días húmedos son los de charol y los bolsos Le Pliage de Longchamp.
